FAQs
To ensure your Parker Thatch bag's preservation, please wear your bag carefully and treat it well. All Parker Thatch bags are handmade with love and great effort by a small group of hard-working, skilled artisans. Because they are cut and sewn by hand and not machine-made, they will have minor inconsistencies from bag to bag. We do not strive to make 100% "perfect" bags and find the unique character of each bag is what makes it beautiful. Markings, use and wear will create a one-of-a-kind appearance that will tell your story.
Suede and Leather Bag Care
Proper care is the key to maintaining the beautiful look and feel of your leather and suede. We lovingly hand-select all of our high-quality suede, leather and hair. Due to the organic nature of these items, slight imperfections may be noticeable and are what we call, imperfectly perfect. This is a desirable mark of distinction from machine-made products.
Tips to keep bags in tip-top condition:
- Avoid exposure to abrasive surfaces.
- Store bag in a fabric dust bag when not in use
- Keep item away from water, since leather and suede is not waterproof.
- Do not machine wash, iron or soak in water
- Wipe wet leather dry with a clean towel
- For lighter colors in leather and suede we also recommend avoiding exposure to dark denim or other dark fabrics with loose dye, as the leather could be subject to color transfer or stains.
If you need further assistance in leather handbag care or cleaning, we recommend taking our products to a trusted leather specialist or cobbler. They are a great resource in helping to maintain your purchase.
Special Instructions for Metallic Leathers
Our special metallic leathers require a bit of extra special care. This is a delicate and fragile material making it more prone to scratches and staining.
- When possible avoid rubbing against rough or sharp surfaces to minimize scratching.
- Be careful with products such as perfume, hand sanitizer, hand creams, and oils as these may damage the leather and cause the metallic coating to come off.
- Avoid contact with water, rain and humidity as it may tarnish the metallic effect.
- Do not use any cleaning products as this may cause the metallic coating to come off.
- Store in a fabric dust bag ensuring all straps and chains are placed inside the bag to avoid marking the leather.
Hair on Cow
Hair on cow leather is delicate and will naturally shed and/or bald over time. This progression is unpreventable due to the nature of calfskin, but can be slowed by limiting abrasive contact.
- Avoid contact with abrasive surfaces.
- Be mindful of the delicate nature while in use.
- Brush in the direction of the hair to remove dirt.
- Blot spills immediately with a soft towel and wipe in the direction of the hair.
- Avoid soaking the leather or getting it wet.
- Store item in a fabric dust bag when not in use.
Denim Bag Care
- Since this item is indigo dyed, it could be prone to color transfer. Avoid soaking in the rain, humidity and constant rubbing against light colored clothing.
Nylon Bag Care
- We recommend gently spot treating any stains or markings with a damp cloth and a mild detergent or soap.
Tokyo Shopper
The Tokyo shopper is made of a strong netted material. We encourage you to be mindful of sharp objects that can rip or tear through the netting. Spot clean with mild soap and water.
Jewelry Care
Keep gold plated jewelry in a cool, dry place, away from humidity to maintain its brightness and shine.
Tips to keep the jewelry's luster:
- Remove gold plated jewelry before showering, swimming or exercising
- Put on gold plated jewelry after cosmetics have been absorbed
- Do not spray perfume on gold plated jewelry
- Buff gold plated jewelry with a microfiber cloth
- Store jewelry in a pouch, case, or jewelry box to prevent tarnishing and fading
It’s really a matter of keeping it away from the elements—salt, water, sweat, and high humidity—and chemicals from cleaners or perfume.
Beaded Straps
Our beaded straps are hand beaded by skilled artisans. Due to their handmade nature, they are delicate and require care and attention when being worn.
- Avoid contact with abrasive surfaces.
- Be mindful of the delicate nature while in use.
- Store strap in a fabric dust bag when not in use.
