What makes Selvedge Denim so Special?

+Selvedge denim is woven using old-fashioned denim-weaving techniques; most authentically woven on old shuttle looms

+Selvedge looms were popular in denim weaving until the mid-to-late 1900’s

+Shuttle Looms produce the signature white edge on the inseam of the jeans, the Shuttle Loom was the original way of producing denim

+Due to the amount of time and difficulty of working with the shuttle looms denim companies stopped mass producing denim made from these looms

+Selvedge tends to have a tighter, denser weave than non-selvedge. The higher density gives the denim a sturdier hand. The use of the older selvedge loom technology also creates beautiful variations on the denim surface (due to inconsistencies in the weaving process) compared to denim woven on modern looms. These variations make the denim visually unique and highly desirable
