For the first in our series all about the cherished things some of our favorite people carry in their Parker Thatch bags, of course we wanted to feature our fearless leader Irene. So what does Irene carry in her bag? Well, an impressive amount of other bags, for one! Read on—and be sure to watch the video—to see everything she takes with her when she’s out and about.
The (main) bag:
The Jack in tan is my go-to work bag, it’s big enough for my computer, but it’s also just a great daily bag that fits everything I need. I love the patina it has developed over time, which makes it feel even more special.
The just-in-case cap:
I always have either a baseball cap or a beanie (my preference is one in ribbed cashmere), especially as the days get colder.
The shades:
Sunglasses are an absolute must. I’m currently obsessed with my Celine Triomphe 52mm oval pair.
The non-shades:
I have to wear readers these days, and I have a million around the house. When I’m heading out I’m always sure to grab a pair—these ones from Caddis are great—and pop them in my PT glasses holder.
The signature style:
A navy blue bandana is my *thing*. It’s another great way to keep the cold away, and it’s beyond versatile. I tend to tie mine around my neck but it’s also great to have on days when you need your hair out of your face.
The midday treat:
I should probably eat less gummy candy, but I really really love it. Rowntree’s fruit pastilles and Maynards wine gums and anything from Bon Bon are my favorites.
The necessity:
I don’t carry a wallet anymore, but I do carry a phone, always. And in case I need my cards for anything, I can just slide them in the phone case.
The Big Buddy:
This is the real heart of my bag system. As you’ll see, the Big Buddy is a sort of nesting doll for everything I need (including smaller buddies). If I’m switching bags, I can just grab it and toss it in, plus it does double duty as a going-out clutch in the evening.
The Little Buddy:
See what I meant about nesting dolls? The Little Buddy is the perfect size for things like lip gloss (my fave is from Baume des Muses, and I’ve had it monogrammed to make it even more special), my True Botanicals Chebula hand cream, Jao hand sanitizer and a notebook and pen so I can jot down ideas throughout the day. Oh, and I always carry a comb! This one from Buly1803 is perfect for my curly hair.
The Baby Buddy:
Yes, one more Buddy! The smallest size is just right for a couple lipsticks—one neutral shade and one red because you never know when you might want to feel just a touch more dressed up—plus my AirPods. The Baby Buddy nestles into the Little Buddy, which goes into the Big Buddy. That way, I have everything in one place but I don’t have to hunt for 10 minutes to find whatever I’m looking for.
